U.S. - Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy Assistant
As an International College, our Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant program has been assessed by an Educational Assessing Service for previous American graduates. Our program has been assessed as equivalent to an “Associate Degree in Physiotherapy Assistant”, similar to a degree earned within the United States of America. Program Objectives / Job Opportunities
The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant diploma program focuses on the most important areas in the field, including development and function of the human body and rehabilitation plans & techniques. The significance of frames of reference and patient charting are introduced early in the program, including mock therapy sessions concentrating on various disabilities help the student develop the proper communication skills in this field. Robetech students have the advantage of working within our simulated massage and rehabilitation practical rooms which offers various machines and equipments. Students are taught to perform treatments and modalities such as the TENS machine, EMS machine, Paraffin wax, hot and cold therapy, weights and muscle strengthening, therapeutic ultrasound, and basic splinting. Massage techniques and injury exercises are also emphasized throughout the program.

Along with all the modules included in the PDF attachment, additional modules and certificate course are also suggested for US Citizens in order to receive the same positive assessment which enables graduates to work as a Physiotherapy Assistant in the USA.

Pre-Requisites:
Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent
Advance Standing Students Students may apply for Advanced Standing Status if they hold an International Degree in a related field of studies. Each application will be assessed on an individual basis. * Please note that Tuition Fees are to be paid in two installments.
Class Schedule:
Option One:
Students may attend Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm in the Canadian Campus for the first 24 weeks. The remaining 33 weeks students may complete in the U.S at a Physiotherapy facility under the direct supervision of a U.S licensed physiotherapist.
Option Two:
Students may attend weekend classes in the Canadian Campus for a total of 12 hours per week (Saturdays 9am-9pm). The remaining hours required to complete the course would be held in the U.S at a Physiotherapy facility under the direct supervision of a U.S licensed physiotherapist.
Please note that hours alternate between 12-40 hours a week depending on the specific module being taught.
Clinical Placement:
The College will enter into an agreement with the Physiotherapy Clinic or Rehabilitation Centre on behalf of the student.
The student may chose to complete their clinical training in Canada in which case it will be the College that will be responsible for the clinical placement.
Clinical Placement within the U.S:
Robetech Institute will arrange clinical placement within Canada ONLY. Students are responsible to contact and arrange their own clinical placement if it is requested to be completed in the US.
Robetech Clinical coordinator will provide all the necessary information to the supervising Physiotherapist. An agreement between Robetech Institute and the clinical site must be signed by a licensed Physiotherapist prior to commencing placement.
Class Schedule for Advanced Standing Students ONLY:
Once the college has assessed the students prior learning documents, Advanced Standing Students may be exempted from specific lectures, although every student is required to write ALL written and practical examinations.
Students are also required to be evaluated by a member of Robetech Institute’s Canadian Faculty regardless of any other prior learning assessment from an outside service.
The total number of hours including the certificate courses equals to 1750. These hours are equivalent to a two (2) year course offered by Community Colleges. The accelerated program allows students to complete the course within 57 consecutive weeks.
